The object of the Society is to promote the study and understanding of war in history
Our aim is to foster an understanding of how war has been prepared for, organised and conducted across all times, spaces and cultures
Our ambition is to stimulate a broad range of discussions about the place of war in society, its impacts on cultures and individuals and how it has been perceived, experienced and legitimated

Whilst our central concern is the history of warfare, we also seek to encourage an open and inter-disciplinary dialogue that facilitates a much wider appreciation for the role of war in generating social, political, economic and military change.
